If you have ever seen a Manchester United vs. Liverpool game, you know the rivalries. Steven Gerrard vowed midweek to “halt Uniteds title run”, too bad that’s easier said than done. In Liverpool, the Scouser’s were going crazy, and the two teams promised an exciting game!
Berba to the rescue as Man United go top!
Manchester United left it late to go top for the first time this season as their wastefulness in the final third became apparent again. Despite dominating possession throughout the proceedings it took until Tevez's cross from the right was met by Berbatov in the 89th minute to seal the points. Rooney revels but Owen hits the winner
In the first pre-season game it was Wayne Rooney, back in his preferred role off Berbatov, who was the shining light. Opening the scoring inside 10 minutes then adding an assist for Nani to make it 2-1 at half time. Foster's error looked to have given the Malaysian XI a 2-2 draw before Owen pounced to score on his debut the winner.
Front Row Seats
Well, almost. To be more precise I witnessed United’s Carling Cup semi-final victory against Derby from the second row of Old Trafford’s South Stand. A fantastic seat to catch the first glimpse of new signing Zoran Tosic warm up along the touchline right in front of me, as well as a more familiar Cristiano Ronaldo.
